Online Exercise on Campus

This information is about the fitness classes scheduled for the fall semester. All fitness classes are through Zoom at this time, so there is no equipment needed! More information can be found on the Fitness Center Website at Pappas Fitness Center. Follow along for class updates on the Wheaton Recreation Instagram account @wheatonrec

Monday

4 p.m. – Head to Toe

Taught by Rebecca Oliveira ’18

Reach a burn out with our muscle fatiguing class with emphasis on abs and glutes, working on activating appropriate muscles, getting the most out of an exercise and contracting muscles to their fatigue. 

5:30 p.m. – Meditation and Mindfulness

Taught by Caleigh Grogan ’18

Mental meditation that teaches you to slow down racing thoughts, let go of negativity and calm both your mind and body. 

Tuesday

11 a.m. – HIIT it 

Taught by Rebecca Oliveira ’18

A high-intensity interval of full-body, bodyweight training and getting your heart rate up while working on baseline strength. 

7 p.m. – Yoga with Dory

Taught by Dory Gedraitis ’22

In this class, postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated.

Wednesday

8 a.m. – Yoga with Dory

11 a.m. – Let’s Get Fit with Rebecca

A bodyweight workout that targets all areas of your body.  

6 p.m. – Yoga with Dory

Pappas Fitness Center Hours of operation:

The Pappas Fitness Center has begun reopening to Wheaton students, faculty, and staff. The top priority is the health and safety of the Wheaton community. These are the current Pappas Fitness Center operations.

Monday–Friday: 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m.–1 p.m. 

Sunday: CLOSED

Revised policies and protocols:

  • Students who are remote for the fall semester will not have access to the Pappas Fitness Center.
  • Wheaton College faculty and staff who have been designated as Level 1 or Level 2 under the college’s testing protocols will be permitted access to the Pappas Fitness Center. (Level 3 employees will not be permitted to access the Pappas Fitness Center).
  • Masks or face coverings are mandatory at all times, even while using the equipment and working out.
  • Keeping a 10-foot distance from other patrons is necessary at all times. Staff will be on hand to assist in this effort.
  • The locker rooms will be closed including showers; please don’t bring any extra items with you to work out.
  • Bathrooms will be available for use.
  • Workouts done on any cardio machine should be limited to no longer than 30 total minutes.

Advice

  • Make reservations for the Pappas Fitness Center using our new online reservation system. You will only be allowed inside the fitness center if you have a reservation and fulfilled all of the requirements noted above. The building will open five minutes before your reservation for check-in. Reservations will be limited to one hour per day.
  • Be cleared via CoVerified, your daily health check screening tool. Be prepared to show this clearance to Wheaton College front desk staff. Additionally, bring your Wheaton ID to sign in for your time slot. 
  • Clean stations/machines after usage as well. Cleaning supplies will be available throughout the space. Please do not move any equipment from designated stations. Wheaton athletics staff will be stationed on both floors of the fitness center, monitoring usage for your safety. The Stretch Room & Spin Room are currently closed.
