Wheaton Campus gets ready for Halloween and sees some large shake-ups

Author’s Note: Skipping a week gives you more events to choose from. *Taps forehead*

  • Wheaton’s Colleges Against Cancer group hosted a pumpkin carving event on The Dimple from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. on Oct. 22. Julianna Bauer, ‘22, noted that they were raising money for the organization Relay for Life and that the event was a good way to “get the campus involved” in the fight against cancer.
  • Farm House hosted an Open Mic night on Oct. 22 at 6 P.M. with a large number of performers. The final and most well-received act was a new singing group titled the “Sea Shanty Band.” Sinead Garvey, ‘22, Farm House Vice President and Emcee of the open mic night, noted the event was done because the campus “had been separated” by Covid and the event “was a fun community event.” About 100 people attended the event.
  • PAC, the Programming and Activities Council, announced on their Instagram page on Oct. 22 that they have “dissolve[d] for the remainder of the semester” following allegations of bias incidents within the organization. The fate of Spring Weekend and other events remains unknown at this time.
  • On Oct. 27, Wheaton College, along with a large chunk of the town of Norton and the surrounding Bristol County region, lost power. Classes were cancelled for the day.
