Wheaton Words, a series of monologues written by Wheaton students and alumnae, will be held on March 20, March 21 and March 23. The monologues are centered on various subjects such as sexuality, relationships and identity.
The monologues are directed by Blair Davis ‘14 and Luke Demers ‘14 and produced by Sophie Howard ’14. Emily Stoddard ’14 is the stage manager.
Sophie Howard ‘14 said that the creative process of putting together Wheaton Words “fostered a collective space” in which members of the Wheaton community could process their experiences with the topics they were writing about.
“I hope that the performances will be an expansion of this space, encouraging discussion of these stories and [the audience’s] own,” she said.
The performance contains many writers and performers. Some students are performing pieces that others have written, while other students will perform their own work.
Wheaton Words is effectively the second performance of these kind of monologues; a similar show called “Stripped” took place last year.
The performance will take place in the Beard and Weil Galleries this year. The unique setting comes with space limitations, so it is recommended that students reserve tickets immediately. To reserve tickets, email wheatonwords@gmail.com.
