It’s time to wake up with The Wire! Modeled after the likes of Up First and The Daily, listen to our new weekly, early morning podcast covering everything from campus-wide news stories to global, national, and local news. Curated info that college students actually care about! The podcast will be released weekly on Thursday mornings just around 9 a.m. EST. The Wheaton Wire Wakeup is run by Managing Editor Delaney Beaudoin ’22 and Editor-in-Chief Sydney Murphy ’21.

Feeling stressed out or anxious? Come make a trigger kit with the lovely members of Tulip House! What is a trigger kit, you ask? A trigger kit is a portable bag of grounding tools that can calm you down when you are experiencing anything from a panic attack to a bad day. You will have something to touch, taste, feel, and smell, all in one bag you can decorate yourself! Members of Tulip House will be available to walk you through building and using your trigger kit. Come stop by!

The 2021 Wheaton Biennial is an open-call exhibition focused on new media and juried by author and curator, Legacy Russell. Presented virtually, this exhibition includes artists whose work challenges and celebrates new media. As with past Biennials, our definition is boundary-pushing and inclusive, seeking a diverse range of experimental work, collectively evoking an open-ended conversation.

Panel discussion with Change the Subject stars
The Library will host a panel discussion with student activist Óscar Rubén Cornejo Cásares of Northwestern University, film director Sawyer Broadley, and Wheaton librarian Kate Henke, who will discuss their experiences with this work. Bring your questions to the event or submit them ahead of time.

Join us for an open discussion. How do we create more just and equitable arts organizations? Can we use the past to build a new architecture of ideas? Guests are independent curator and art facilitator, Anita N. Bateman, Ph.D; curator & activist Jasmine Wahi; critic/curator Larry Ossei-Mensah, co-founder of the global collective ARTNOIR; art historian Suzanne Blier, Professor of Fine Arts & African and African American Studies, Harvard University.

Decolonizing Universalism: Constructing a Transnational Feminist Ethic
A discussion with Serene J. Khader, Professor and Jay Newman, Chair in Philosophy of Culture, Brooklyn College.
Join Professor Khader for a discussion of her recent book, Decolonizing Universalism, which asks after the values that should guide transnational feminist solidarity. In her work Professor Khader argues that transnational feminism can respect cultural religious difference and acknowledge the legacy of imperialism without surrendering its core ethical commitments.

The X Series (xperimental/xperiential/xpression) celebrates Wheaton’s creativity in a multidisciplinary virtual event composed of ‘acts’ created by our community. Spanning dance, song, and film to visual art and theatrical performance, each project responds to the prompt: 2020 and Beyond: Our Reflections. Our Responses. Over the course of this two-night live premiere, we gather to share our creative processes and to present the culmination of that work. Via Zoom, registration required.
