Cheryl Mrozowski, Wheaton’s Director of Dance has been with the college since 1987, building and expanding the department throughout the years. She spoke with passion and excitement about the Dance Company and its upcoming main stage performance. This year, the company is comprised of 12 dancers: 11 females and one male, six of which are new this year.
The Dance Company puts on an eclectic performance every semester, a beloved tradition here at Wheaton College. What is exciting about this semester’s production is that year five former captains have returned to “set works on the company.” Cheryl later spoke with candor about having outside guest artists join the spectacle. This year’s show is called “Dynamic Energy” because “it is a very dynamic, moving performance” with various guest acts ranging from Trybe to Tap out Loud. What should one expect from this spectacle? Cheryl stated that the show is a “mixed repertory company” with aspects of jazz, modern, and lyrical, “all different types…that depend on the choreographer…and the dancers.” When asked what to expect from the upcoming show in December, Mrozowski responded with excitement, “it’s all new works…it’s theatrical… its dramatic…dynamic energy describes it very well.” With weeks of intensive training, glittering costumes, and a high level of commitment, this year’s “Dynamic Energy” is bound to become one of Wheaton’s most beloved theatrical feasts. The highly anticipated show is set to run December 6-8, 2018 at Weber Theatre.
