As announced to the community through Dean Irish’s Welcome Back email, Rachael Pauze, former Title IX Coordinator, will be stepping into a broader compliance position with the hiring of Caraline Moholland.

Pauze emphasized that she planned to continue to be an available resource for students, particularly given the relationships she had developed as the coordinator. She plans to work closely with Moholland to ease her into her new role, but Pauze’s new position will allow for her to offer further support and oversight when it comes to the college’s compliance with Title IX legal policy.

Pauze, described by Dean Irish as “instrumental in policy and process development at Wheaton,” hoped that her new position will allow her to develop and offer further education and training around the law and policy to students interested in advocacy. Pauze explained that she planned to focus on educational sessions that could help students interested in advocacy reach a more nuanced understanding of Title IX as law.

While sharing her plan to work more closely with groups of students, Pauze specifically mentioned the Sexual Health Advocacy Group, Tulip House and the Feminist Association of Wheaton as groups she will be working closely with. Pauze plans to help interested students become aware of the functioning of the law when it comes to Title IX, allowing them to become pivotal resources for Wheaton students.

“I was the point person for so long and I want students to know I’m still here, still available if there’s anything I can help them with,” said Pauze.
