Letter from the Editor Week 5 Fall 2013

All,

A few weeks back, I asked you to submit ideas for potential columns on WheatonWire.com. Since then, I’ve received at least a dozen ideas in the Wire email. I have to say, I’m completely blown away by the submissions.

It isn’t that I doubted you all. Of course I didn’t. It was much more a case of me doubting myself. I wasn’t sure that I expressed what we’re looking for in the site clearly enough. I’m new to this website business, and I’m learning in real time.

But the great part is that I don’t have to worry about any of that stuff anymore. The ideas you all submitted were exactly what I was looking for. You submitted column ideas about embracing the myriad experiences students have abroad, the ins and outs of fiction writing, representing Wheaton’s LBGTQ community, and many, many more. They were all excellent.

So, where to next?

I’m going to sit down with Julie Bogen, Joanna Bouras, and Monica Vendituoli (Senior, Managing, and Online Editors, respectively) to discuss how we want to proceed. Some of the column ideas were so interesting that they may make an appearance in the print edition of the Wire. It’s my hope that every one of them sees the light of day.

So, thank you, Wheaton. I am so thrilled that you are as excited to contribute to the Wire as I am.

In other news, next weekend is break. Because of that, we will not run a print issue of the Wire. We will post a few stories on WheatonWire.com, but other than that, we will go home, see our families, and maybe, just maybe, get a little sleep. I hope that you do, too, and that you have a lovely break.

Regards,

Alex
