Lake Street Dive – Fun Machine EP
Fun Machine is a 6-track EP consisting of covers from classic artists such as The Jackson 5 and Hall & Oates. Released in 2012, two years their first studio album, the album takes a new look at these timeless songs. The groups’ combination of jazz, pop, and R&B influences create their fun and light sound with Rachael Price’s soulful voice. Each track on this album deserves a listen, and Lake Street Dive’s most recent album Bad Self Portraits is also worth checking out if you enjoy the unique style this group is bringing back.
Frank Ocean – Channel Orange
Frank Ocean’s debut studio album is an instant classic. Winning a 2013 Grammy, and multiple other awards, Ocean’s smooth falsetto and R&B sounds are to be enjoyed with the incoming beautiful weather. Thinkin’ Bout You, the most popular track on the album, takes a look at Ocean’s first love, while other tunes such as Super Rich Kids and Pink Matter address Ocean’s fascination with affection. Ocean plans on releasing a second studio album this July, a perfectly timed follow-up to Channel Orange.
